This Week’s Weather on the Forgotten Coast (July 13-19, 2026)
It’s looking like a classic hot and humid mid-July week on the Forgotten Coast. Highs will range from the mid-80s early in the week up into the low-to-mid 90s by the weekend, with overnight lows mostly in the mid-to-upper 70s.
The best chance for heavier rain and thunderstorms comes Monday and Tuesday (60–70% range). After that, the pattern improves — expect scattered or isolated afternoon thunderstorms most days, with rain chances dropping into the 30–40% range later in the week. Overall, still a good week for morning or evening outings on the water if you keep an eye on the sky and stay hydrated.

The Forgotten Coast is full of good news this week, with four community highlights worth celebrating.
The Franklin County Angels 10U Dixie Youth Softball All-Stars claimed the state championship with a 4-1 victory and are now headed to the World Series in Belleview beginning July 31.
Scallop season is officially open in Franklin County — including Carrabelle and Lanark — running through September 24, giving locals and visitors plenty of time to enjoy this beloved summer tradition on the water.
In Lanark, a new community group called Lanark By The Sea has begun holding Monday gatherings, offering neighbors a welcoming space for fellowship and connection.
And on the academic front, local athlete Blackburn is heading to Missouri Southern State University, a proud milestone for Franklin County's high school track program and the broader community. Read More... |

This Week Along the Forgotten Coast
Mid-July has a way of slowing everything down on the Forgotten Coast.
The holiday rush is behind us. The big crowds have thinned. What’s left is the real summer — hot, a little sticky, and full of long, quiet afternoons. You can feel the difference in the mornings: the light comes up softer, the air still carries a bit of cool before the day really takes hold.
This is the stretch when people settle into their own rhythms. Some head out early for a few hours on the water. Others just sit with coffee and watch the day unfold. Nothing feels rushed. Nothing needs to be.
It’s a good week to notice the small things again — the way the marsh looks after a rain, the sound of the cicadas in the afternoon, the easy way the evenings stretch out. The coast doesn’t ask much of us right now. It just asks us to be here.

This gentle pup is known for his friendly nature and gets along well with other dogs and children.
During a visit with the office cat, Breeze showed calm behavior and curiosity.
Breeze is still learning leash manners and basic commands, but he’s very smart and responds quickly to training from the shelter’s dedicated volunteers.
