Last month my husband and I camped here for a weekend, and it quickly became one of our favorite places on the Forgotten Coast.
Tucked between the Gulf of Mexico and St. Joseph Bay, this park offers the kind of quiet, uncrowded beauty that’s getting harder to find. Our site was just steps from the water, and each morning we woke up to the sound of waves and birds instead of traffic.
The days are made for hours beachcombing for shells on the Gulf side, kayaking the calmer bay waters, and walking the nature trails through the dunes and pine forests. If you are lucky, maybe dolphins play just offshore. At night the sky was so dark we could see the Milky Way — something we rarely get back home.
It’s the perfect mix of simple and special: no fancy amenities, just beautiful campsites, easy beach access, and that peaceful, slow-down feeling that makes the Forgotten Coast so special.
If you’re looking for a real escape where you can actually hear the water and feel the place, this is it.
