Stories, places, and small moments from Apalachicola and the Forgotten Coast — week of September 7, 2026 |

Labor Day opens the week on the Forgotten Coast — one last official pause before September settles in. The water is still warm, the mornings still ask you to get outside before the day thickens, and the light is already a little lower in the evening.
After the holiday, the pace shifts. The weekend crowds thin, the towns feel more like themselves again, and ordinary errands start to feel like part of the season: a stop at the library, a walk along the marsh, supper while the sky is still holding color.
Nothing has to be marked or hurried. The coast is simply taking its first quiet steps into fall, one familiar afternoon at a time.
Enjoy the beauty around us and have a blessed week...
