Here are a few bright spots making us smile this week on the Forgotten Coast and across Florida:
🐋 Manatee Magic Did you know that manatees have the densest bones in the animal kingdom (to help them stay underwater), can eat up to 150 pounds of vegetation a day, and have been known to live over 60 years? These gentle giants continue to make a comeback in our waters thanks to conservation efforts. 👉 Read 10 fascinating facts: Everglades Foundation
🪔 Crooked River Lighthouse Illuminating Apparatus The historic Crooked River Lighthouse is shining a little brighter with a special focus on its original illuminating apparatus. Visitors can now learn about the remarkable Fresnel lens system that once guided ships safely along our coast. A wonderful piece of local maritime history on display! 👉 Learn more: Crooked River Lighthouse
🏛️ Raney House Restoration Award Congratulations to the architect whose thoughtful work on the historic Raney House in Apalachicola has received recognition!
