Weekend in Santa Rosa Beach:

Why 30A Feels Like the Perfect Escape

(Photo from Booking.com)

Last month, my husband and I decided to slip away for a weekend and ended up in Santa Rosa Beach. We were already camping nearby and wanted something close enough for an easy drive from Apalachicola but far enough to feel like a real little getaway — and 30A delivered exactly that.

We stayed in a charming Airbnb tucked just a few blocks off the main stretch. The house had that perfect coastal feel — light and airy, with a screened porch where we drank coffee every morning and watched the neighborhood wake up. What surprised us most was how walkable everything felt. We could bike (or stroll, depending on energy levels) to coffee shops, grab fresh seafood for dinner, or wander over to the beach without ever getting in the car. It was the kind of relaxed rhythm that makes you slow down and actually enjoy being there.

The Santa Rosa Beach area is one of those places that quietly checks every box for a Forgotten Coast day trip or longer stay. You’ve got miles of sugar-white sand and emerald water on one side, and the scenic 30A bike path winding through dunes and coastal lakes on the other. We spent our days beachcombing, riding bikes along the trail, browsing the little shops in the villages, and ending each evening with a sunset that made the whole drive worth it.

One place I’m already dreaming about staying at next time is The Pearl Hotel in nearby Rosemary Beach. With its beautiful architecture and that perfect mix of luxury and laid-back charm, it feels like the ideal splurge for a special weekend. We walked past it during our stay and I immediately added it to the “one day” list.

Whether you’re looking for a quick escape or planning a longer 30A trip, Santa Rosa Beach gives you that sweet spot — close enough to feel familiar, special enough to feel like a vacation. We came home refreshed, a little sunburned, and already talking about when we can go back.
