📚 Library Literacy Program Helps Local Families

A $10,000 grant from the Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida is supporting a hands-on literacy program at the Apalachicola Margaret Key Public Library. Parents and young children gather twice a week for meals, reading, and practical tips on catching those everyday “teachable moments.”

🏛️ Carrabelle Exhibit Still Drawing Visitors

The Carrabelle History Museum’s “Foundations of Freedom – Carrabelle’s Role in America’s Story” exhibit remains on display through September 30. The free exhibit, timed with the nation’s 250th birthday, highlights local history, civic life, and original artifacts.

🐢 St. George Island Sea Turtle Patrol Finds 10 New Nests

After Tropical Storm Bertha washed away or damaged a large number of nests, the St. George Island Sea Turtle Patrol focused on the positive and reported 10 new nests found over the weekend. Volunteers continue their dedicated work protecting the remaining nests and encouraging beachgoers to keep the beaches clean, flat, and dark.
